On a night where he thought he'd be the Opening Day starter for Reading, Tyler Cloyd found himself throwing the first pitch of the season for the IronPigs after a late-announced suspension of Dave Bush forced him into his Triple-A debut. To say he wasn't fazed would be an understatement. Cloyd pitched six perfect innings including eight strikeouts to earn the win in what was a 3-0 IronPigs victory. I unfortunately could only listen to this one, but from the sounds of it his slider was extremely effective and the Yankees didn't even come close to a hit while he was on the mound.

Sandberg was forced to pull Cloyd after the 6th because he'd thrown 73 pitches. Phillippe Aumont continued the perfect game for one more batter before Raymond Kruml broke it up with a double to left-center that Rich Thompson just missed grabbing. That was all the Yankees would get though as Aumont closed out the 7th and Jake Diekman and Michael Schwimer kept the Yanks hit-less over the final two innings. Schwimer pitched the 9th and got the IronPigs first save of 2012.
The IronPigs offense didn't do much better with just three hits on the night. All three runs came in the 2nd inning when Rich Thompson walked with the bases loaded and a Ramiro Pena throwing error allowed two runs to score.
