Not much going on in Pawtucket this afternoon. At least on the IronPigs' side.
The PawSox shutout the Pigs 8-0 to split the four game series behind three home runs and a strong start from Ross Ohlendorf. The IronPigs had just four hits - two coming in the 2nd inning - which lowered the team's season batting average to .195.
The one bright spot was Dave Bush who pitched 5 innings, allowing only an unearned run (Gosewisch throwing error) on 2 hits while walking and striking out 2 in his 2012 debut. The bullpen let the Pigs down for the first time this season with Raul Valdes giving up 5 runs and Jeremy Horst allowing 2. All seven runs came via the home run.
Prior to today's game, the IronPigs bullpen had allowed only one earned run in 13.1 innings and had an 8 inning scoreless streak.
Syracuse and 19-year old phenom Bryce Harper arrive at Coca-Cola Park tomorrow night to kick-off a five game homestand.
The IronPigs are now 4-2 and will remain at least tied for first place depending on the outcome of the Buffalo-Rochester game. The Bisons are up 3-2 in the 5th.
