Scott Elarton got his first win as a starter since 2007 and three relievers combined on four shutout innings as the IronPigs improved to 4-1 tonight with a 1-0 victory over the PawSox. It's already the second shutout for Pigs pitching in this early season.
Elarton, appearing in his first game since 2010, pitched five innings, giving up just two hits while striking out four and walking three to get the win. The last time he won a game as the starting pitcher was June 28, 2007 with New Orleans.
|Brown had the lone RBI|
The only run came off the bat of Domonic Brown who had the game winning hit for the second straight game. In the top of the 4th Brown singled to center to score Hector Luna. He was 2 for 4 on the night and is starting to swing the bat well.
The series finale is tomorrow afternoon at 12:05 - the first afternoon game of the year. Dave Bush will make his 2012 debut after missing his scheduled Opening Day start because of a suspension. For Pawtucket, Ross Ohlendorf also makes his season debut after splitting 2011 between Bradenton, Altoona, and Indianapolis.
