IronPigs Announce Two New Seating Areas: Good or Bad?

This afternoon the Pigs officially announced that they will be adding two new seating areas to Coca-Cola Park for 2013. There was word that additional seating was going to be added, but we didn't know the exact plans until today.

There were no pictures attached, but from what I read, here are the two new sections:

First, they are going to add seats on the little section of grass between the bottom of the PPL Patio and the field. They're calling it the "Hot Corner" and it will "feature 48 swivel-style seats across two rows" for $20 a person.

Jon Schaeffer, Doug Heater, and Matt Provence sitting on the grass below the PPL Patio in 2010.
The IronPigs will be adding "swivel-style seats" to this area for 2013.
The second new seating area is going along the right field wall (presumably in front of the Trough) which used to be open to people with general admission tickets or fans who wanted to stand. I didn't stand out there much considering the number of games I go to, but when I did I enjoyed it a lot.

This view will now cost $10
Obviously it's good news that the Pigs feel there is enough interest out there to put in these new sections, but one of the best things about Coca-Cola Park is how open the outfield is to anyone who wants to venture out there. Hopefully these new seats do not take away too much from that. I also wonder if this will reduce the number of general admission tickets the Pigs sell per game. Those tickets were $7, the new "Bacon Strip" tickets will be $10.

  1. I share your concerns about exactly where in right field these seats will be located. Wish they had provided a drawing to show us just where they will be. And will it be safe to sit on the 3rd base line??
